Fake Name Generator

Generate placeholder names and profiles for testing forms, demos and databases. The names are drawn from real name frequency lists, but every combination is random — these are not real people and the addresses are not real addresses.

Options

Up to 20 at a time; each gets its own card.
Your name-style choice is remembered in this browser. Generated identities are never saved.

Identity

Private by design. This page has no backend. Identities are assembled by JavaScript on your own device from embedded name lists and are never sent anywhere.

Where the names come from

Given names and surnames are drawn from public-domain frequency lists — the kind built from census data — so the output looks like a plausible person rather than Test User 42. Streets, cities and states are drawn from generic corpora, and the house numbers, ZIPs, phones and emails are random. Two things are deliberately true of everything here: the combinations are random, so no output describes a real person, and the email addresses live only on example.com-style reserved domains that cannot receive mail.

The shape of the data

Each identity carries a name, gender, birthday and age that agree with each other, a street address, a city/state/ZIP triple, a phone number in a reserved-for-fiction format, an email, a username, a throwaway password and an occupation. Ages run from 18 to 79. Copy as CSV gives you the standard eleven-column layout (the password is deliberately excluded) ready to paste into a seed script.

Responsible use

This tool exists for testing software: filling a form end-to-end, seeding a database with realistic rows, mocking an API response, populating a design mockup. Using an invented identity to deceive people, open accounts or evade bans is fraud in most places, and none of the output should be presented as real.

Common uses

Populating a new database with realistic test rows, QA-testing signup and checkout flows, demoing an app to stakeholders without exposing anyone's real data, and generating fixtures for automated tests.

How to use the Fake Name Generator

Frequently asked questions

No. Every name and detail is randomly assembled and does not describe a real person or address.

Can I include emails and addresses?

Yes. You can toggle which fields are generated, including email, phone and address.

Can I use these in a demo or test database?

Yes. They are ideal for populating forms and test fixtures with plausible placeholder data.
