Text Reverser
Reverse text by character, by word or line by line. Accented letters and emoji are kept whole rather than being split in half.
Your text
Result
Private by design. This page has no backend. Your text is reversed by JavaScript running on your own device and is never sent anywhere.
What each mode does
Whole text
Reads the entire text backwards, line breaks included. The last character becomes the first. This is the mode people usually mean by "reverse text".
Word order
Reverses the order of the words on each line but leaves the lines themselves in place,
so a list stays a list. one two three becomes
three two one. The original spacing pattern is preserved, so double spaces
and indentation stay where they were.
Line order
Turns the block of lines upside down. The first line becomes the last. Useful for flipping a chronological log, or a list that was sorted the wrong way.
Letters in each word
Reverses each word individually and leaves the words in their original order, so
hello world becomes olleh dlrow. Punctuation stays put,
because only the letters and digits inside a word are touched.
Each line backwards
Reverses the characters within each line but keeps the lines in their original order — the opposite pairing to "Line order".
Why emoji and accents do not break
Reversing a string one JavaScript character at a time corrupts anything stored as more than one unit. An emoji is usually two units, an accented letter can be a base letter plus a separate accent mark, and a flag or a family emoji is a whole sequence joined together. Reversing those blindly produces broken squares.
This tool groups each visible character with anything attached to it first — accents, variation selectors, skin-tone modifiers, and zero-width joiner sequences — and reverses those groups. Very unusual sequences may still come apart; if you find one, reversing the result gets your original text back.
Common uses
Checking a palindrome by eye, flipping a log file so the newest entry is on top, turning a list upside down without sorting it, and producing deliberately mirrored text for a puzzle or a graphic.
How to use the Text Reverser

Frequently asked questions
Will emoji and accented characters break?
No. Reversal works on whole characters, so emoji, accents and other Unicode letters stay intact.
Can I reverse line order instead of letters?
Yes. Pick the line mode to flip the order of the lines rather than the characters.
Does reversing change my original text?
No. The original stays in the input box and only the output is reversed.
