Tip Calculator
Work out the gratuity on a bill and split it across the table — tip, total and each person's share, updating as you type. Everything is computed in this browser tab.

Amounts
Private by design. This page has no backend. The maths is done by JavaScript on your own device — the numbers never leave this page.
How the amounts are worked out
The tip is the bill times the percentage, the total is bill plus tip, and the per-person figures divide both by the number of people. Every amount is rounded to two decimals at the end, and only for display — the underlying figures keep their full precision so nothing drifts as you type. A 12.50 bill with an 18% tip split four ways gives each person a 2.81 tip, a 3.13 bill share, and a 5.94 share of the total.
Rounding in real life
When a table splits unevenly — a few people ordering mains, someone just having a drink — per-person maths always leaves a couple of cents unaccounted for. That is a payment-app problem, not a maths one: for paper settlements people round to the nearest unit anyway. This tool reports the exact share so you can round however the table agrees.
Percentages above the presets
The preset chips cover the common range, but the custom field takes anything from 0 to 100 percent, so a stingy or generous night is covered too. A zero tip is a legitimate answer — the calculator simply shows the bill itself.
Common uses
Splitting a restaurant bill, budgeting for service expected on a bill that has not arrived yet, checking what a tip actually adds before you write it, and comparing how a few extra percent looks on a large total.
How to use the Tip Calculator

Frequently asked questions
Does it split the bill between several people?
Yes. Set the number of people and it shows the per-person total including the tip.
Can I tip on the pre-tax amount?
Yes. Enter the pre-tax bill if you prefer to tip on the subtotal rather than the total.
Are the results rounded?
Amounts are shown to two decimal places, and you can round the per-person share to a convenient figure.
