Private by design. This page has no backend. Your image is resized by JavaScript running on your own device and is never sent anywhere.

How the resizing works

This tool draws your image onto an HTML canvas at the target dimensions, then exports it as a downloadable file. The canvas scaling algorithm is browser-default (typically bilinear or bicubic), which produces good results for most photos.

Resize modes

Exact dimensions sets both width and height independently. When the aspect-ratio lock is on, changing one value automatically updates the other to prevent stretching. Turn the lock off to resize freely, which may distort the image.

Scale by percentage multiplies both dimensions by the same factor. At 50%, a 1200×800 image becomes 600×400.

Max dimension scales the image so that neither side exceeds the limit, preserving the aspect ratio. This is handy for thumbnails or social media uploads that have a size cap.

Large images

Very large images (over 2000 pixels on either side) may use significant browser memory. The tool works safely on images up to around 8000×8000 pixels.

How to use the Image Resizer

  1. Add an image.
  2. Enter exact width and height, or scale by a percentage.
  3. Download the resized image.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep the aspect ratio?

Yes. Resize by percentage or lock the ratio so the image is not stretched.

Does resizing lose quality?

Enlarging an image cannot add detail, so it looks softer; shrinking usually looks fine.

Is the image uploaded to a server?

No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser.
